Decorating Small Spaces

The small rooms can be exhausting and uncomfortable, but fortunately we can use some design concepts to fool the eye and make them appear larger.

1. Use light colors:

light-colored walls are more reflective, which helps to maximize the effect created by natural light. However, this does not imply that the walls have to be white, there is a range of paints in bright colors.

Having chosen the wall color, choose colors and trim cuts. Should choose the same tone for the walls or a slightly lighter color. Colored objects seem closer, while dark seem more distant. When painting the trim a lighter color, the wall seems further away, making the room seem larger.

Dark colors can be used in furniture, artwork and accessories.

Be careful when using wallpaper, solid colors are the safest. Regardless of color or finish of the walls, ideally in small rooms is to paint the ceiling white to maximize clarity.

2. Place mirrors:

the mirrors can have a favorable impact on the appearance of a room. A large mirror will reflect light around the room, both natural and artificial, increasing the clarity and making the room appear wider. They are especially effective when placed near a window.

Using cabinet doors with mirrors or glass front to make the space seem more spacious and bright.

3. Place furniture on angles:

place one of the largest furniture at an angle. It is not necessary to place a precise angle of 45 degrees, often a lesser angle looks better if you can balance the vision with other furniture. This works because the longest line of any room is the diagonal, place the furniture at an angle leads the eye toward a wider distance. As a bonus, also get some storage space in the corner that is behind the cabinet.

4. Buy furniture at:

choose furniture according to the size of the room. If the room is small furniture to smaller and simpler to avoid burdening the space. There are shops devoted exclusively to selling furniture for apartments and small houses. Regardless of their size is slightly lower, small furniture is very nice.

An open headboard is best for a small room. By furnishing the spaces should be kept clear at eye level. The largest furniture should be placed at the back of the room on the side opposite the entrance.
